Venue:State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC), Airoli, Mumbai
TAn industrial visit was organized for third-year Electrical Engineering students to the Maharashtra State Load Despatch Centre located at Airoli, Navi Mumbai. The visit aimed to provide practical exposure to real-time power system operation and grid management.
A total of 40 third year students participated in this visit, accompanied by Prof. P. R. Jadhav as faculty coordinator. The visit was supported by lab assistants Miss Saloni D. Govekar and Mr. Suyash R.Talekar.
The State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) is the apex body responsible for the integrated operation of the power system in Maharashtra under the Electricity Act, 2003. It ensures reliable, secure, and economic operation of the state grid. The SLDC at Airoli operates as a central control hub for monitoring and managing electricity flow across the state.
Objectives of the Visit
To understand the functioning of load dispatch centers
To gain knowledge of real-time grid operations.
To study SCADA systems and control mechanisms.
To observe power scheduling and demand management
To bridge the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge.
Activities
During the Visit Students observed control room operations, SCADA system demonstration, load dispatch functions, grid frequency management, and renewable energy integration.
